Kvadrat chaise
sheet mild steel and cloth.
In a relaunch of their first
weave designed by Nana Ditzel
in 1965, Kvadrat, the Danish
texile company, has appointed
an international selection of
designers to each design and
produce a furniture item, the
fabrication of which has to
incorporate, in any manner so
chosen, the Hallingdal65 fabric.
The Kvadrat chaise takes cue
from the very cloth it represents.
The shape for the chair was
derived from a typical flick of
the wrist local Malaysian street
traders give well sold rolls to
have them unfurl - frozen mid-
flight, the shape that the cloth
might have taken is assumed
by the chair, with the balance
of un-upholstered fabric simply
rolled into the base of the
chair head for use in future
repair or reupholstery.
